Begun as a monument to the victory in the War of Resistance and renamed after 1949 (1950), it anchors the city's main shopping and business district and its New Year countdown crowds. Facts: Location: central Yuzhong · Around it: Bayi Food Street, department stores, the walk to Hongyadong (~10 min) · Time needed: 30–60 min plus grazing. Visit well: Treat it as the city's compass point — orient here, eat down Bayi Road, then walk to Hongyadong for the lights.
